FIXED – 'Hyper-v the ip address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx you have entered for this network adapter is already assigned to another adapter (Microsoft Hyper-v Network Adapter) which is no longer present in this computer.'

in my case i have a new Hyper-v Host 2012 server and looking for copying all the VHDs into the new one, but i should maintain the network configuration as is. and this is what i faced

as i know my virtual adapter should be called Microsoft Hyper-v Network Adapter, but when i go to network connection to check the adapter setting and view the details, it shows me Microsoft Hyper-v Network Adapter #3.

that`s mean i have three adapter installed on this VHD due to machine copying.
The Solution
you have to make Windows forget the original NIC configuration by running  this command:
set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1
and uninstall it from Device Manager
  1. Open the Device Manager.
  2. Click View, and then click Show Hidden Devices.
  3. Expand the Network Adapters tree, you will see hidden Adapter as well.
  4. Right-click the dimmed network adapter, and then click Uninstall.
You can now configure the IP and other network settings as you want, and you will not get this message any more.
To avoid having this again
either remove the NIC from the VM before you copy/move the VHD file(s), or copy/move the VM using a proper tool, such as SCVMM.
